The Old Grain Barn is a converted barn which dates from the 16th Century. The property has been converted to designs prepared by the architectural practice of Ellis Miller . It was nominated in the recent Grand Designs Home Awards in the conversion category.
The accommodation centers around a large reception space which is vaulted to full height with a feature fireplace to one end and lit by industrial style low energy flood lighting. There is a galleried sitting area to one end and an – industrial – metal bridge and staircase which leads from this room up into the master bedroom with outlooks over the gardens and distant views of rolling countryside beyond.
The kitchen is stylish with polished granite working surfaces and a range of integrated appliances including a range cooker and a brick open fireplace The accommodation is unique and provides period interest and charm with cutting edge modern styling.
From the exterior The Old Grain Barn is typical of a former barn converted to residential use but internally provides a modern twist with many features more typical of urban conversions. The combination of stylish interiors with a superb rural yet commutable location give the property a great deal of appeal.
